I received the nickname "Barnezy" in junior high from my football coaches. "Barnezy", pronounced (barn-zee), has stuck with me for over a decade. Very rarely will someone call me by my real name. My Christian name is Christopher, meaning "Christ Bearer" or "Messenger of God." My mother, as well as my two grandmothers, are the only people in the whole world that call me by my real name. So what is this website about you ask? This website was created for many reasons. One of the reasons was to show the people in my life how much I have appreciated their lives. The people in this website are very dear to me, and this is a monument to the influence they have had in my life. I would not be the same man without the influence of these people. The main reason was to share my thoughts and passions with the world. My main passion in life is being a "dangerous" disciple for the Lord Jesus Christ. My defining moment in life came in September of 1997 when I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior at the "See you at the Party" rally in Tulsa, OK.
I graduated from Union High School (GO REDSKINS!) in 2001. I was fortunate enough to play football as well as basketball for Union High School. The good Lord blessed me with incredible speed and strength, but I was lacking a little bit in the size department. Not too many Division 1 schools are out to recruit too many 6'3, 195 pound defensive ends. This lack of size altered my athletic destiny and sent me to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College. I spent two years playing for NEO A&M (GO NORSEMEN!) Some of my fondest memories, including the creation of many of barnezy'com's videos, occured during my time at NEO. I played one more year of football for The University of Tulsa (GO HURRICANE!) but was forced to forfeit my senior year of play due to injuries. The photo at the top of the page was taken at Jayhawk Stadium in 2004. Sacking KU's Adam Barmann for a loss on my very first Division 1 play was worth every drop of "blood, sweat and tears" I had shed in my athletic career. I am finishing up at TU where I am pursuing an Exercise Sports Science degree.
I plan on matriculating to chiropractic college in either Kansas City or St. Louis, Missouri. I have recently surrendered my life to the ministry, so my future plans may be laid to the side in the event that God calls me to do His work. I try to stay very active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I travel across Oklahoma and speak to different FCA huddles as well as athletic teams. I also try to work as a huddle leader (counselor) for a few FCA camps each summer. I have a huge list of hobbies including: photography, cinematography, video editing, sports, working out, playing with radio controlled vehicles and driving muscle cars.
My family has been in the car business for over 30 years. I have an incredible family that I will never take for granted. My father and mother, Steve and Cindy, have been married for 28 years and are very supportive of my endeavors. My older brother Shaun is an absolute blast to hang out with and always has something crazy to say. I have the most amazing wife a guy could ever wish for in life. Ali is a huge influence in my life and is a living testament of God's undying love. This website would also not be possible without the guidance of Matt Eber. Matt, your gift of time was very instramental in the creation of this site. The barnezy.com banner photo was taken by "yours truly" in 2002 and defines the very essence of who I am. If you ask me what my tatoo means, you'll get the same answer every time. And when you ask me why I am the way I am, my usual response is the same "He who has been forgiven much...loves much." I'd say that pretty much wraps up my life. ,-Barnezy-
